A good WC cubicle is more than a partition. A door that opens easily, an intuitive lock and access for cleaning staff are all parts of the same design decision. Planning should therefore begin with everyday use, before the panel colour.

The role of materials in washrooms

Fundermax lists commercial toilet partitions among the applications for its compact HPL panels. However, material suitability alone does not determine every property of the finished cubicle. Doors, legs and fixing systems must be assessed together.

Test door directions on the plan

Check whether an open door conflicts with someone using a washbasin or passing through the corridor. Approving a layout using only closed-door drawings can conceal problems that emerge during use.

Define privacy requirements at the outset. Floor and ceiling gaps, sightlines and door clearances vary by system. Accessible cubicles require a project-specific accessibility assessment, rather than simply enlarging a standard plan.

Check hardware on a sample

On a sample door, examine hinge movement, operation of the lock from inside and, where needed, emergency access from outside. Replaceable parts can be as valuable as the purchase price in a busy facility.

Assess floor access with the cleaning team. Narrow gaps around skirtings, feet and wall junctions can complicate maintenance. Before approval, make sure the sample and technical drawing show the same solution.

Before you decide

  • Draw door openings and circulation together.
  • Define privacy and maintenance requirements together.
  • Ask about replacement locks, hinges and legs.

Sources and scope

Manufacturer sources were reviewed on 24 September 2026. Brand and product properties in those sources do not automatically represent performance or certification claims for Mat Kabin products. Planning advice is general information; final selections should be based on the current technical documents for the specific product.
