Furniture selection in healthcare involves more than colour and storage capacity. Understand the procedures surfaces will face, how they will be cleaned and how teams will share the space. Make design decisions with the facility’s technical and hygiene teams.

Separate material properties from care practices

Corian presents its solid surfaces through their non-porous structure and examples of healthcare applications. A material property does not replace a facility’s cleaning and disinfection practices. Suitability must be verified for the model and application.

Examine joints and access points

Review how the countertop meets the wall, basin and cabinet in detail drawings. Assess narrow gaps that cannot be cleaned and spaces behind equipment during design. A sample installation helps make these issues tangible.

Test whether open cabinet doors obstruct working routes. Plan clean-material storage, equipment and waste management around the facility’s procedures rather than copying a general decorative scheme.

Confirm chemical compatibility in writing

Share the facility’s products and application conditions with the surface supplier. ‘Easy to clean’ does not mean compatible with every chemical. Review technical documentation alongside the facility’s protocol.

The handover file should include care instructions, spare-part information and a repair contact. This article is not an infection-control protocol; it aims to help teams ask the right technical questions when selecting furniture and surfaces.

Before you decide

  • Define the application with the facility’s technical team.
  • Verify cleaner compatibility for each product.
  • Include joint, care and repair details in the handover file.

Sources and scope

Manufacturer sources were reviewed on 24 September 2026. Brand and product properties in those sources do not automatically represent performance or certification claims for Mat Kabin products. Planning advice is general information; final selections should be based on the current technical documents for the specific product.
